After a long period of relatively stable prices, the insurance sector has been hit hard by surprisingly persistent inflation. And the prospect is that this trend is unlikely to subside in the short term. On top of claim inflation, we have seen an increase in natural catastrophes which of course impact the reinsurance costs of insurers, further loading pricing. The goal of this roundtable is to discuss this topic in the context of an insurers pricing cycle. Historically insurers have struggles with outdated core systems and distribution channels that respond slowly to changes in pricing. These two factors combined are causing a significant drag on underwriting performance. The goal is to identify clear and actionable steps that insurers can take to significantly reduce their lead time to price update.
