The Challenge: AI Liability: Insuring Intelligence at Scale

🏆 Exona Lab won the ITC Europe and Generali Challenge Lab!

Congratulations to Daniel Reti and the entire team. Exona Lab has built an AI Risk Engine that helps insurers, reinsurers, and brokers detect, map, and quantify AI-driven liability across their portfolios. Underwriters gain a clear view of where exposures exist and how they interact with existing coverage.

Bold, timely, and exactly what the industry needs.

The Challenge: AI Liability: Insuring Intelligence at Scale

As artificial intelligence becomes deeply embedded in core business functions, spanning decision-making, pricing, operations, customer engagement and automation, accountability is shifting from human actors to algorithmic systems. This transition introduces a new class of liability risks that are complex, opaque, and difficult to quantify.

The finalists should aim to:

  • Pinpoint where AI liability is actively emerging across industries and use cases

  • Surface and evaluate practical, deployable solutions from frontier innovators

  • Anticipate and address the regulatory, legal, and operational implications of AI adoption before they materialise

How it works

What is the Challenge Lab?

Startups are invited to enter the Challenge Lab to reshape the role of insurance  in a rapidly changing world. The top five entries will pitch live on stage at ITC Europe before industry leaders and innovators. Generali will crown the winner, unlocking major visibility, industry recognition, and a powerful opportunity to drive real-world impact.

Selecting the top 5

The top five finalists are selected based on their applications. The ITC team, together with Generali, will review submissions and choose the startups that best demonstrate innovation, impact, and alignment with the sustainability challenge, earning the chance to pitch live at ITC Europe.

What’s at stake?

The winning startup will receive a trophy on stage, gain industry recognition and PR, and earn a free speaking slot at ITC Europe 2027, offering unmatched visibility and the opportunity to showcase their solution to a global audience.
